Pediatricians have to deal with all kinds of interesting situations in their daily work with children, and kids eating random objects is of them. Children just love to stick stuff in their mouths and while parents do their best to keep tiny toys away from eager eaters there’s always a chance that something like a Lego finds its way into the stomach of a youngster.

A half dozen pediatricians decided to see what affect, if any, a tiny yellow Lego head would have on their own bodies by volunteering to swallow them. Their findings were reported in the Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health.

News broke yesterday of a Chinese scientist who claims to have edited the genes of human embryos which were then carried to full term. The man, He Jiankui, made the claims ahead of a genetic technology conference, and his alleged work drew swift criticism from many other medical researchers who find human genetic modification to be both dangerous and unethical.

In the wake of his revelation, news about He’s past research and overall career has begun to trickle out. The university He associated himself with, and claimed he had clearance from to conduct genetic modification, shot down his story shortly after it became public, and now it seems the scientist was actually suspended from his job as far back as February 1, 2018.

Google first announced the new Pixel Slate tablet early last month during its big Pixel 3 press conference in New York City. At the time, the Pixel Slate looked like a great addition to Google’s Chrome OS lineup, offering users a high-end tablet to complement the Pixelbook notebook PC. As anyone who has ever used a Pixelbook can confirm, it’s by far the best Chromebook on the planet. We were pretty excited last week when a story said that the first Avengers 4 trailer would be released on Black Friday, but that rumor was soon put to rest. Friday came and went without an Avengers 4 trailer, although we did get the first teaser for Disney’s new Lion King film. Other reports that followed said that the Disney trailer you most want to see this year would still be released by the end of 2018, just as the Russo brothers said, with the final week of November being the prime candidate for the event. Speculation is now mounting that the trailer may be released tomorrow on November 28th, which is when a special Infinity War event will take place.

Yesterday was a big day for NASA. The InSight lander which launched early this year finally arrived at Mars and successfully landed on the planet’s surface, and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory was overjoyed that all their hard work and planning over the past 8+ years had ultimately paid off. Now, with the lander still getting itself ready for the years of work ahead of it, the robot took the time to shoot back its very first photos of its landing site.

The first image, a dust-covered snapshot taken just moments after landing, was difficult to make out but served as a lovely tease for what was to come. The second image, taken from a different camera built into the robot, is a whole lot clearer.
