Saving money is difficult. There’s no other way to put it. Even people who live well within their means can never seem to save as much money as they’d like, and that’s before unplanned expenses enter the picture and throw us for a loop. For all the things we’re taught beginning at a young age in school, there’s never enough emphasis put on managing one’s finances, and what seem like small mistakes made at a young age and impact people’s lives years or even decades down the road.

Whether you’re young or old and whether you make $10,000 a year or $1,000,000 a year, there are always things you can do to save more money.

“this is about as bad as it can possibly get”

A security researcher has discovered a “bug” in Symantec antivirus software, which affects “the core Symantec Antivirus Engine used in most Symantec and Norton branded Antivirus products.” I say “bug” because it’s less bug, and more a gaping security flaw that makes it incredibly easy to hack any PC, Mac or Linux box running Symantec software.

The flaw (spotted by The Register) was found by Tavis Ormandy, a white-hat hacker whose previous work has involved hacking internet-connected scales. The Symantec bug is to do with how the antivirus engine scans code, in particular an old compression tool.

If there’s one thing that worked against Prison Break in previous seasons, it was the show’s title. There wasn’t any real prison breaking going on, and the adventures of Michael Scofield & Co. weren’t that exciting once they were no longer in prison. However, Wentworth Miller is back for season five and he’s got himself arrested again. That’s right, he’ll be breaking out of prison all over again, and now we get our first look at the new trailer for the upcoming season.

T-Mobile’s Binge On service is a handy loophole that lets you stream video from select services without it counting against your data cap. Big players like Netflix and YouTube have already been on board, but this morning, T-Mobile’s rounding out the offerings by adding names like NBC and Univision.

The announcement today added a handful of new participating media outlets, bringing the total up to 80. The biggest names being added are NBC and Univision, which should be good news for fans of SNL or Ninja Warrior. The other interesting move is adding music videos from the likes of Spotify and Tidal onto the Binge On platform.

Although it initially passed Apple’s certification process, System and Security Info has been removed from the App Store a week after its release. As developer Stefan Esser explains, the app was capable of providing a detailed rundown of the running processes on an iPhone as well as detecting malware and security anomalies that would otherwise remain hidden from users.

When Apple originally introduced Apple Pay with the iPhone 6, it was widely assumed that mobile payments were finally poised to go mainstream. The harsh reality, though, is that Apple Pay has been somewhat slow to get off the ground. While the service itself is intuitive and works incredibly well, wide-scale adoption has only started to pick up in recent months.

One of the ongoing roadblocks Apple Pay has had to contend with is the fact that not every retailer supports Apple’s payment solution. In fact, some retailers like CVS went so far as to proactively disable NFC support on their POS machines specifically to preclude services like Apple Pay from being used.
