Trains take a long time to stop, so if a driver sees an obstacle — say, the back of a truck — in the tracks, there’s not much they can do about it. Unless you’re this quick-thinking Polish train driver, whose timely warning saved his passengers from near-certain injury.

As the BBC reports, the train was traveling at 68 mph when the driver saw a lorry stuck in a crossing. With the three seconds he had available, there was no way he was going to stop. Top Gear has previously demonstrated in graphic detail how far it takes a passenger train to perform an emergency stop, so it’s fair to say this lorry had no chance.

Over the past few years, late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has made a name for himself by pulling off some of the funniest and most impressively orchestrated pranks any of us have ever seen. The Turing test has always been an approximate benchmark for good AI. In the test, a human is supposed to converse with a machine over text for five minutes; if the human doesn’t realize that they are talking to a machine, then the computer passes as AI “indistinguishable” from human intelligence.

How about a computer that tricked hundreds students for an entire semester?

Although we typically think of malware and phishing attacks being aimed at consumers, some cybercriminals choose to target banks directly rather than their customers so they can siphon money from unsuspecting financial institutions. If successful, these sophisticated techniques can yield impressive results.

A few months ago, unidentified attackers transferred $81 million from the bank of Bangladesh. That’s an serious amount of money, but the hackers wanted to steal close to $1 billion, and only a stroke of luck helped the banks prevent the bigger loss.

It turns out that this wasn’t an isolated incident, and hackers can pull it off again and again by taking advantage of the supposedly secure method banks use to transfer money.

You’re driving along at the posted speed limit, operating your vehicle as any responsible motorist would, when all of a sudden an SUV blows through a red light and smashes into your car. There are no witnesses around and when the police arrive, the driver of the other car says you were the one who ran through the light. You argue but it’s your word against his so the police can’t state clearly in their report who was at fault.

Last-gen gamers won’t be able to play the recently announed Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare this year, but it appears that Activision has something else waiting in the wings for fans who haven’t upgraded to a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One yet.

On Friday, listings on Best Buy’s website revealed the existence of an unannounced Modern Warfare Trilogy, scheduled for release on May 17th.
