Even Tesla has been surprised by just how popular its Model 3 has been. With around 400,000 preorders, Tesla recently adopted a new production plan that would see it manufacture half a million vehicles a year in 2018, or two years faster than initial projections. Tesla also set an internal deadline for producing the Model 3, one that it confirmed it won’t be able to meet. As Tesla said, Model 3 production will actually depend on a lot of factors, many outside its reach.

And in a recently filed SEC document, Tesla went into further details about the challenges it will face when producing the Model 3.

When it rains, it pours. A report from a well-known Apple insider on Wednesday is now offering more details on the upcoming iPhone 7 phablet and it hints that the 5.5-inch model will be the best new iPhone to buy this year.

Google I/O 2016 preview: All the biggest announcements you can expect next week

%name Google I/O 2016 preview: All the biggest announcements you can expect next week by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Every year during the spring and summer months, Android and Apple users alike are given a glimpse into the future of their respective mobile operating systems. Apple of course has WWDC which is slated to take place in June and Google will kick things off one month earlier when its annual I/O developers conference kicks off next week on May 18.

What makes Google’s I/O conference arguably more interesting and exciting than WWDC is that there’s a whole lot more to cover. While Apple will predictably cover the future of iOS and OS X, Google, as it’s prone to do, will cover an incredible array of products and technologies, hardly a surprise given how many different pots Google has its hands in these days. Indeed, Google’s broadening interest in all facets of technology – and even science – is what prompted the company to rename and restructure itself under the Alphabet umbrella.

All that said, we are eagerly anticipating Google to make a number of interesting announcements that extend far beyond the company’s upcoming Android N update. From a rumored VR headset to more information regarding a Project Tango smartphone, the collective eyes of the tech world will understandably be laser focused on all things Google I/O next week.

New iPhone blueprints sourced from noted leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer appear to confirm that Apple’s next-gen iPhone 7 will not feature a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. The blueprint renders below, reportedly sourced from an Apple subcontractor (via uSwitch), also seem to corroborate previous reports indicating that the larger iPhone 7 Plus will be the only model to ship with Apple’s advanced dual lens camera system.

Images of all the new emoji that might be coming soon to your smartphone

%name Images of all the new emoji that might be coming soon to your smartphone by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Typically when a new emoji proposal comes over the wire, it’s not worth diving too deep into because there are no guarantees that the Unicode Consortium will approve any or all of the new suggestions. In the case of a new proposal making waves on Wednesday morning, however, an exception should be made for two reasons:

First, the new emoji set aims to empower women by offering two sets of the same emoji, one male and one female. Second, they’ll almost certainly be approved by the consortium because one of the people behind the new proposal is Google’s Mark Davis, who just so happens to be the president of the Unicode Consortium.

Police are investigating the death of a 19-year-old woman in Arpajon, France, who appears to have thrown herself in front of a train while livestreaming on Periscope yesterday. As the latest (and most graphic) in a series of disturbing incidents livestreamed using the app, it shines a dark light on the service.

The video now appears to have been pulled from Periscope, but the New York Times reports some snippets are still on YouTube. The woman appears on a couch, talking to viewers in a “sober” fashion as she lays out her plans. Other users asked questions and appeared to goad her on, saying things like “We’re waiting” and “Give us a hint.” Police also said that the woman sent a text to one of her relatives a few minutes before her death, stating her intentions. It’s unclear whether any Periscope users made an effort to contact police after realizing her plans.
