Apple’s next big iPhone growth plan faces some big hurdles

Apple last quarter sold 51.1 million iPhones, an impressive figure to be sure, but markedly lower than the 61.1 million iPhones it sold during the same quarter a year-ago. And while there are cogent explanations that put the iPhone’s year over year sales decline into context, analysts and pundits – as is seemingly their nature – are opting to willfully ignore them and have instead taken to calling for Tim Cook’s ouster.

While the notion of getting rid of a CEO who helped generate more revenue in a single quarter than Google, Microsoft and Facebook combined is nonsensical, the reality is Apple, at some point in the near future, will need to demonstrate to investors that there’s still a lot of life left in the iPhone.

These colorized renderings of historic black-and-white photographs will blow your mind

%name These colorized renderings of historic black and white photographs will blow your mind by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

I’ve always thought that one of the more interesting things about HD video and modern day photography is that it has become impossible to distinguish the era in which content was created. Whereas photographs from the 1960s and 1980s, for example, have their own distinct color attributes, a photograph taken in 2010 will be impossible to distinguish from a photo taken in 2020.

Needless to say, old photographs have a certain charm about them that only decades of time can bestow. That said, sometimes it’s just as charming to add a bit of color to classic historical photographs. Over the past few years, colorizing old photos has become an art unto itself. And while some purists might understandably scoff at such endeavors, I personally think that colorizing old photos is a clever and unique way to make history seem that much more tangible and relatable.

The guy who played Greedo just ended one of the biggest ‘Star Wars’ debates

%name The guy who played Greedo just ended one of the biggest ‘Star Wars’ debates by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

One of the most controversial decisions that Star Wars creator George Lucas has made over the years was to change the sequence of events that happened when Han Solo was accosted by bounty hunter Greedo in the cantina. In the original cut of the film, Han Solo shot first at Greedo and easily killed him before the inept bounty hunter could get a shot off. In the 1997 “special edition” of the movie, Lucas re-edited the scene to make it look as though Greedo had actually shot at Han first.

Why did he change this? It doesn’t really matter since it was one of many questionable decisions Lucas made in the late ’90s and early 2000s. The point is that most fans believe that Han should have been the one to shoot first and now they have no less of an authority than the actor who played Greedo backing them up.

Ahead of the release of the hit movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the world was introduced to one of the cutest new characters in Disney’s Star Wars revival. His name is BB-8 and actually, he isn’t a “he” at all. Instead, BB-8 is the name of an adorable little droid that makes R2-D2 look boring and old. And the best part about BB-8 is that he’s not just a 2-dimensional character trapped on screen in the movie — you can actually get a BB-8 droid of your very own and control it with your iPhone or Android smartphone.

Well guess what: From now through the end of the day on Sunday, May 8, you can get the Sphero Star Wars BB-8 Droid on sale for just $123 shipped instead of $150, which is how much it typically costs.
