John Krasinski was trending late last night on Twitter, prompting many to mistakenly assume that The Office star had come down with the coronavirus. Thankfully, that’s not the reason Krasinski was trending at all. As it turns out, Krasinski is launching a new YouTube series called Some Good News which, as the name implies, will focus on sharing positive stories designed to counterbalance the deluge of sad coronavirus-related stories that currently dominate the headlines.

Krasinski’s new show comes in the wake of the actor taking to Twitter last week and asking folks online to send him uplifting stories that made them smile or feel particularly good. The new series made a splash right from the get-go with Krasinski getting his former Office co-star Steve Carell to join in on the fun.

In the early morning hours on Monday, art thieves broke into a Dutch art museum — the Singer Lauren museum, near Amsterdam — that had been closed because of the virus and stole a Vincent Van Gogh painting.

A brazen overnight art heist in The Netherlands involving a stolen Vincent Van Gogh masterpiece sounds so perfectly timed that it could have been pulled off by Danny Ocean and his fictional crew of thieves from the Ocean’s Eleven movie franchise.

The “smash-and-grab” raid, as officials have described it, occurred at the Singer Lauren museum near Amsterdam and involved the theft of Van Gogh’s The Parsonage Garden at Nuenen in Spring 1884. What made the thieves feel emboldened enough to pull off their heist? The museum was closed as a result of the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The first coronavirus vaccine could begin human testing by September of this year.
Projections pegged late 2021 as the earliest we could realistically expect to see a vaccine, but Johnson & Johnson expects its coronavirus vaccine to be available in emergencies by early next year.
This is an accelerated timeline for the development of a vaccine, but the novel coronavirus pandemic has put us in a position where we cannot afford to wait years for an antidote.

Ever since the novel coronavirus outbreak in China morphed into a global pandemic, people have been asking when their lives are going to go back to normal. Sadly, not a single medical expert or epidemiologist can give us a definitive answer to that question, but until a vast majority of the population has either been infected and developed immunity to the virus or received a vaccine to prevent them from getting it in the first place, the disruption of our daily lives is going to continue. But the vaccine might be much closer than we initially expected.

In an alarming study released to the public earlier this month, the Imperial College COVID-19 response team asserted that a vaccine could be at least 18 months away, but on Monday, Johnson & Johnson announced that it had chosen a lead vaccine candidate that it expects to begin testing on humans by September.

Though the vast majority of Apple employees are now working from home due to stay-at-home directives in California, the company is still working diligently on new products. In short, Apple’s ability to innovate and work on new products may be somewhat stunted, but it hasn’t been completely stifled. According to a report from Bloomberg, some of Apple’s hardware engineers have received special permission to work at Apple’s spaceship campus in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

Specifically, Apple is said to be working on a slew of new devices, including next-gen versions of the HomePod and Apple TV. Other products Apple may release sometime this year include new iterations of the Apple Watch and iMac, along with a new MacBook Pro and budget-friendly iPads.

Tokyo Summer Olympics officially rescheduled for 2021

The coronavirus pandemic forced the IOC (International Olympic Committee) to delay the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo.
The Tokyo Summer Games will now kick off in 2021 and will run from July 23th through August 8th.
Any athlete who already qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics will be automatically qualified for the 2021 Summer Olympics.

When the NBA canceled its season nearly three weeks ago, a lot of people thought the decision was overkill. With the benefit of hindsight, and with the coronavirus still spreading across the United States, it’s now abundantly clear that the NBA was way ahead of the curve. Before long, the entire sports world was put on pause as March Madness was canceled, along with MLB spring training, European soccer, and everything in between.

The longest holdout, however, was the Olympics. Originally set to take place in Tokyo, Japan this summer, the IOC waited until last week to officially cancel the Summer Games. And now the IOC has issued a new schedule for what will now be referred to as the 2021 games. Specifically, the Summer Olympics next year will run from July 23rd through August 8th.

HQ Trivia shut down in February following a series of internal struggles and a lack of viewership.
The first prize pool for the resurrected HQ Trivia was $1,000, and the company also donated $100,000 to a charity working to feed those in need during the coronavirus pandemic.

Considering that less than a month ago most Americans weren’t even aware that there was a possibility they would all be stuck in their homes waiting out a deadly pandemic, it is not going to be easy to surprise them. But the unexpected return of a beloved mobile quiz app certainly created some buzz on Sunday night as HQ Trivia returned with a brand new game for the first time since the app suddenly shut down in the middle of February.

HQ Trivia was a viral hit when it launched in 2017, giving everyone who downloaded the app a chance to compete for cash prizes by answering questions on a live quiz show. Much like Pokemon Go, the popularity of the concept peaked and began to fade, but parent company Intermedia Labs Inc. failed to adapt, and the internal issues that the company was facing started to come to light, punctuated by the departure of host Scott Rogowsky.

That tumultuous period ended with the demise of the app, but just over a month later, HQ Trivia is back.

The FDA approved a fast coronavirus test that can provide a positive result in 5 minutes and a negative one in 13 minutes.
The Abbott test can be performed using the company’s widely deployed ID NOW testing machines, which require little training to operate.
Abbott can ramp up mass-production to up to 50,000 tests per day.
