With Satya Nadella now steering the ship up in Redmond, Microsoft has actually become an exciting company to keep an eye on. This was plainly evident last week when Microsoft introduced a slew of new hardware products, including new Lumia devices, a new version of the Microsoft Band, and a new Surface Pro tablet.

Not bad, but the real star of the show was a product that nobody saw coming; a hybrid laptop Microsoft calls the Surface Book. Equipped with a detachable 13.5-inch display packed with 6 million pixels, the Surface Book is an intriguing product both from a hardware and design perspective.

In our in-depth OnePlus 2 review, we discussed how impressive OnePlus’ work has been so far. This small startup has managed to create a mid-range smartphone that outshines many high-end Android phones where design, build quality and sometimes even performance are concerned. Most impressively, the OnePlus 2 can be had for less than half the price of many of the phones it bests.

When OnePlus released the OnePlus 2, the company said that it planned to launch a second new phone before 2015 was over, and now we know exactly when that new phone will debut.

Apple’s iPhones have consistently been able to outperform rivals from the competition without necessarily matching their hardware. The primary “culprit” is Apple’s custom AX chip design that’s miles ahead of the competition. However, the same chips got Apple in legal troubles, as the company has apparently been using energy-efficiency technology in A7 and A8 processor that was patented way back in 1998 by the University of Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation.

WARF sued Apple in early 2014, with a jury finding that Apple has infringed the technology described in the patent. The iPhone maker now faces damages of up to $862.4 millions, though they’re yet to be determined.
