Google’s big fall event is behind us, and we have some great new hardware to show for it. The new Nexus 5X is the hotly anticipated follow-up to 2013’s Nexus 5, and it’s everything Android fans were hoping for. Then the larger Nexus 6P offers an all-aluminum body, a 2K display and solid performance for a surprisingly affordable price. Bold phones are set to begin shipping next month, and fans of the “pure Android” experience can’t wait.

Of course, Google also spent some time on software during Tuesday’s press conference, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow is set to begin rolling out next week.

Over the weekend, some bold iPhone 6s owners decided it was time to do something crazy with the new device, so you don’t have to: they dunked the phone in water to see what happens. And, surprisingly, the iPhone 6s proved to be a lot more water-resistant than we would have expected. But why didn’t Apple say anything about this particular characteristic, something that would make the iPhone 6s even more desirable than it already is?

It turns out that the company has made certain design changes and used several components that make the iPhone 6s water-resistant. At the same, though, other parts are yet to receive the same treatment, which means the iPhone 6s isn’t exactly ready to sport a waterproof certification.

Months of rumors, record-breaking sales, staggering benchmark scores… can Apple’s new iPhone possibly live up to the hype?

When I reviewed the iPhone 6 last year, I explained how different reviewing an iPhone is compared to reviewing other smartphones. Reviews typically have a great deal of influence over readers, giving them a good sense of a device’s strengths and weaknesses before it even launches. Smartphone shoppers then use this information to help guide their purchases. With the iPhone, however, reviews don’t carry anywhere near as much weight with readers. Instead, people make decisions more often than not based on Apple’s marketing and its general aura. At least, that’s typically the case.

This year, things are different. I have never received emails from so many people on the fence about whether or not they should buy a new iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus. Hundreds of emails from iPhone owners wondering if the 6s is a worthy upgrade from the 6, and from Android users debating whether or not to switch.

What is perhaps most surprising about the timing of this shift in sentiment, interestingly, is the fact that the answers to these questions are easier in 2015 than they have ever been in the past.

Look, we’re going to level with you right now: 4K resolution is not yet a necessity for flat-screen TVs. Many previous reports have said that Apple is also developing a smaller iPhone version in addition to the 4.7-inch iPhone 6s and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus. Dubbed the iPhone 6c, the device supposedly has a 4-inch display and specs that match last year’s iPhone 6. Tesla has added an SUV to its fleet in the form of the Model X, a new car that the company is describing as “the SUV uncompromised.” The car’s most striking feature is its Falcon Wings doors that open vertically and “allow easy access to second and third row seats from any parking space.” On the insider, the Model X features all-wheel drive and enough seating space to fit seven adults. The car has a 90 kWh battery that delivers 250 miles of range per charge and it goes from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.2 seconds, with a maximum speed of 155 miles per hour.

The iPhone 6s hasn’t even been out a week yet but some are already looking forward to next year’s iPhone 7.
