With an intuitive and easy to use interface, Popcorn Time has become the go-to service for users who, let’s be honest, want to pirate TV shows and movies. Underscoring how much easier the service is to use than traditional BitTorrent clients, the ascension of Popcorn Time has resulted in an absolute explosion in piracy since its 2014 launch. Norway in particular has experienced a huge increase in piracy, with some estimates claiming that 15% of the population there has viewed pirated content within the last 12 months.

Microsoft’s hotly anticipated next-generation desktop and tablet operating system was released to the public nearly one month ago, and the response so far has been overwhelmingly positive. Always on the lookout for new and creative ways to gather information in hard to reach locations, the United States Naval Research Laboratory (USNRL) has quietly been developing a drone that can not only fly through the air, but also swim underwater.
Called “Flimmer”, the device has been under development for about two years, with research being spearheaded by Dan Edwards who works in the Vehicle Research and Tactical Electronic Warfare section within the USNRL. The Vehicle Research Section, according to the Navy, is “dedicated to advancing the state-of-the-art in unmanned systems technology.”
And Flimmer, if anything, seems to fit that bill.
Now the way Flimmer works is seemingly simple enough to belie its true complexity. The device takes off like any other airborne drone and flies off into the distance. Next, the drone splashes down at a pre-determined location, submerges itself under water where it then begins to swim to a target location. By air, Flimmer can reach speeds of 57 MPH. In the water, Flimmer travels at about 11 MPH.

With a few weeks left until Apple makes its 2015 iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus official, more and more rumors claim to reveal bits and pieces about the upcoming smartphones. A new report from China shows an image of a what looks like a cardboard printout of the next iPhone 6c, bringing some details about the purported new 4-inch iPhone.

Microsoft is expected to hold a special October media event during which the company will supposedly unveil new hardware, including the new Surface Pro 4 laptop/notebook and high-end Lumia devices. While it’s not clear how many distinct Surface Pro 4 versions Microsoft will announce, a new report is saying the company is preparing to release tablet devices with screen sizes bigger than 11-inch, that would put the device of Apple’s Retina MacBook and MacBook Pro, and MacBook Airs.

OK, nerdy parents — this time you may have gone too far. Per Entertainment Weekly, it seems that the name “Anakin” last year climbed into the top 1,000 baby names among American newborns. According to the official list of popular baby names generated by the Social Security Administration, 218 newborns were named Anakin last year, which makes the name as popular as Emmet, Baylor and Judson. Overall Anakin was the 957th most popular name in the U.S. last year after ranking 1,234th in 2013.
