The coronavirus impact continues to manifest itself across the country, with seismic changes being felt across industries that range from hospitality to restaurants and retail.
Amazon is now delaying the shipment of customer orders deemed non-essential for as long as a month from now (until April 21) as it works to get out as many essential goods as possible in light of the continued spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

I’m a huge fan of The Beatles, whose final album Abbey Road got a lavish 50th-anniversary reissue back in the fall. As an experiment, I headed over to Amazon this morning to order the vinyl version of the album — whereupon I was met with a surprise uncharacteristic of Amazon:

I’m a Prime member, and even though the benefits of which include free one- and two-day deliveries, Amazon projects my order won’t arrive until April 21. Now, I don’t really want that purchase (I already own multiple copies of the album, naturally). It was, instead, a test of something that people have started to report widely about Amazon as the coronavirus crisis grinds on: The giant Internet retailer is purposely implementing some of (if not the) biggest customer order fulfillment delays in the company’s history.

WWDC 2020 is set to take place online in June due to the coronavirus pandemic — that is, if Apple doesn’t cancel the event entirely, as Google was forced to do a few days ago with I/O. But WWDC is a lot more important for Apple than I/O is for Google. WWDC is where Apple announces updates for its various operating systems, with iOS being the star of the show. At every WWDC, Apple showcases all of the new iOS features that it can reveal without spoiling the upcoming iPhone, and then releases the first iOS beta.

On the other hand, Apple could very well announce everything online this year without an actual keynote to further reduce any in-person activities that might increase the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Whatever the case, the iOS 14 beta will likely drop on time this summer. While we wait, we have another exciting iOS 14 leak which reveals a brand new location feature that will help you keep track of your children more effectively than before.

The coronavirus impact continues to be felt far and wide, as the COVID-19 virus brings industries from retail to some parts of journalism, even, grinding to a halt.
Regarding the latter, sports journalists don’t exactly have any games to cover right now at this time of social distancing. Which gave a rugby commentator from London the idea to just humorously start narrating real life he sees around him.
It’s a rare bit of positivity amid the coronavirus that’s turned into a global pandemic and as of Monday, March 23, has resulted in more than 378,000 cases around the world and more than 16,000 deaths.

The narrator spits out his commentary in a rapid-fire rat-a-tat, taking audiences along as a race unfolds in front of him. The intensity of his narration is matched only by the speed of the pursuit.

Apple’s new releases for the rest of 2020 include new iPhones and the launch of a new generation of Apple’s mobile operating software, iOS 14.
Meanwhile, another rumor has surfaced that speculates an Apple product we thought was dead — the AirPower wireless charging mat — may actually be back on, after all.
Leaker Jon Prosser has tweeted that Apple is working on a new version of the mat internally, though it’s still not clear at this point if it will get an official release (or even carry the AirPower name).

Almost a year to the day after Apple confirmed that its AirPower wireless charging mat project is officially dead, following a number of technical hurdles the company grappled with that ultimately proved insurmountable, leaker and YouTuber Jon Prosser claims that the project appears to be back on track internally.

“AirPower isn’t dead” he reported in a tweet over the weekend, adding that prototyping is underway now and that while there’s no guarantee Apple will succeed this time and actually release it, the company’s engineers “haven’t given up yet and they’re trying to re-engineer the coils to displace heat more effectively.”

A coronavirus vaccine is in development at the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Vaccine Research.
The COVID-19 vaccine is based on an existing measles vaccine that has been modified using genetic material from the novel coronavirus.
Animal trials of the experimental vaccine will first be needed before human trials can be considered. Even if the trials are successful, we could be 18 months away from seeing a coronavirus vaccine become widely available.

Scientists from the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Vaccine Research are testing out an experimental new vaccine developed using an existing measles vaccine. As KDKA reports, the researchers have genetically modified a measles vaccine using the novel coronavirus, attaching the new genetic material to the vaccine in the hopes that it will prevent the virus from taking root inside a host.

At present, there is no publicly available vaccine to protect against COVID-19, and while a number of research efforts are underway, it will likely still be up to 18 months before we can vaccinate against the virus.

A Marvel insider claimed that three MCU Phase 4 TV shows that were in development for Disney+ will not resume work in the coming weeks due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
He suggested that other Phase 4 productions, including some of next year’s movies and TV series may be impacted by the delay.
The report was later removed, but the insider defended the accuracy of the leaked email on Twitter.

We would have been just about five weeks away from Black Widow, but its May 1st premiere isn’t happening because of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Disney delayed the release, but it’s too early to say whether the blockbuster will debut on Disney+ rather than in cinemas. The longer the quarantine measures take, the more likely it’ll be for Disney to reconsider the Black Widow launch.

Some say the film’s delay won’t ruin the MCU Phase 4 timeline, and that may very well be the case. But the COVID-19 outbreak is a major problem for Marvel’s Phase 4, not just Black Widow. Several other TV shows and movies are in various stages of production, and work has been halted on most of them. And now an insider who has been reporting on Marvel’s latest Phase 4 developments over the past few months said in a new blog post that MCU Phase 4 production is shut down indefinitely. Then he took down the post.

In light of the coronavirus, Tesla will shut down production at its Fremont plant in California at the close of business on Monday.
Tesla’s plant was deemed a non-essential business so it can only in “minimum basic operations.”
Tesla will reportedly use the forced shut down to make factory upgrades.

With the entire state of California still on lockdown because of the coronavirus, only essential operations are allowed to remain functional. As such, the only places of business that are allowed to remain open in the state include grocery stores, banks, gas stations, pharmacies, and laundromats. For a while, though, it seemed as if Tesla would be able to keep production at its Fremont plant in California running at full throttle, in spite of the order.

Tesla’s brazenness in this regard probably shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given some of Elon Musk’s recent statements regarding the virus. Recall, the Tesla CEO a few weeks ago called the coronavirus panic “dumb,” and subsequently said that “the harm from the coronavirus panic far exceeds that of the virus itself.”

Those were the chilling words US Surgeon General Jerome Adams stressed Monday morning during an appearance on NBC’s The Today Show which brought somber new context to the consequences of the deadly coronavirus that’s sickened 35,000 people around the country and killed almost 400.

It was also a reference to the fact that hospital systems in some of the nation’s largest cities like New York City, now the epicenter of the crisis in the US, are nearing a tipping point and close to being overwhelmed by new cases. In response to the coronavirus, and amid concerns about the supply chain, Apple last week implemented a rule preventing people from purchasing more than two iPhone models at a time. It was the first time Apple implemented such a rule in nearly 12 years.
Quietly, Apple removed its two-order limit this week.
Despite coronavirus concerns, there’s still a chance that Apple’s iPhone 12 will be released on schedule this coming September. In a worst-case scenario, the iPhone 12 may not arrive in stores until sometime in November.

With the coronavirus pandemic still in full swing, Apple last week quietly introduced a new rule precluding people from purchasing more than two iPhones at a time. Notably, this marked the first time Apple put a volume limit on iPhone purchases since the original iPhone hit store shelves back in June of 2007.

Now comes word via Reuters that Apple has since dropped its limit on iPhone purchases. Incidentally, Apple didn’t provide a reason for the initial limit or a reason why it opted to lift the limit just a few days later. Regardless, folks looking to stock up on iPhones can now purchase more than 10 at a time if they so choose.

It’s unclear exactly why the virus produces these early symptoms, but they could prove to be useful in early screening of possible coronavirus cases.

These are symptoms that can come with many different types of respiratory illnesses and are not necessarily indicators of a specific type of infection. However, new reports from doctors across the United States reveal a somewhat unique symptom that appears to be popping up with increasing regularity in confirmed coronavirus cases: A loss of smell.

Anosmia, which is the technical term for a loss of the sense of smell, is being reported in many patients who ultimately test positive for COVID-19 later on. To a lesser extent, changes to the sense of taste have also been reported in coronavirus patients.
