  • Sony and Bose are both widely regarded as making the best wireless noise cancelling headphones currently available from any brands.
  • While Bose was the first brand to make a big splash with active noise cancellation in consumer headphones, Sony’s WH1000XM3 headphones are believed by many experts to have surpassed Bose’s rival model in both sound quality and noise cancelling technology.
  • WH1000XM3 wireless ANC headphones retail for $350 and are on sale right now at many retailers for $278, but there’s an even better deal hiding on Amazon.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Ask any expert or search for reviews online and you’ll find that the Sony WH1000XM3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones are the best ANC headphones in the world. Period. Bose QuietComfort 35 II headphones come the closest and some people even prefer them, which is fine since sound quality in headphones is largely subjective. But Sony still has a huge lead when it comes to active noise cancellation technology and overall experience.

The best always comes at a cost and people know that they’ll have to pony up some serious cash for wireless ANC headphones this good; the QuietComfort 35 II headphones from Bose and Sony’s rival headphones each retail for $350. Since they’re so pricey, people typically wait for big sales to buy them, and it just so happens that now is the perfect opportunity. Head over to Amazon and you’ll find that the Sony WH1000XM3 headphones are on sale right now for just $278. That’s a $72 discount and it matches the sale price from Black Friday this past year, but there’s an even better deal that you should definitely check out.

Most people aren’t even aware that Amazon offers a bundle that pairs Sony WH1000XM3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones with a Phonesuit Energy Core Studio 20,000 mAh Battery Pack. It’s not easy to find on the site unless you really know what you’re looking for, but lucky for you, we know what we’re looking for.

WH1000XM3 wireless headphones already have fantastic battery life, offering up to 30 hours of playback on a single charge. That’s all well and good, but nothing can stop your headphones from dying from time to time, especially when you need them most. That’s why having a portable power pack like this Energy Core Studio model from Phonesuit is a good idea. A quick charge adds more than enough battery life to get you through your commute, and you can also use it to recharge your smartphone or anything else you might be carrying. If you’re going to snag the Sony headphones on sale anyway, why not get the portable charger at no additional cost?

Huge iPhone 12 specs leak has two important takeaways

%name Huge iPhone 12 specs leak has two important takeaways by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Apple’s upcoming iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro smartphones are expected to be Apple’s biggest smartphone upgrade in years, according to multiple independent reports from industry insiders.
  • The new iPhone 12 lineup won’t debut until early September, but we already know plenty about the new phone series.
  • A recent huge iPhone 12 leak shed light on even more details surrounding Apple’s big 2020 iPhone upgrade and there are two key details in particular that should get Apple fans especially excited.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Apple’s big iPhone 12 release is still more than six months away. Actually, there’s an increasingly good chance that the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro release is even further away than it would typically be around this time of the year. With only two exceptions, Apple has been releasing its new flagship iPhone lineup in September each year ever since the iPhone 5 was released eight years ago back in 2012. The iPhone X was pushed back a bit in 2017 due to manufacturing complications, and something similar happened the next year with the iPhone XR. This year, however, the potential delay would be to outside factors that are far beyond Apple’s control. As everyone at this point is well aware, the outbreak of the novel coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China is causing major planning and manufacturing as Eastern factories attempt to slow the spread of the deadly virus. It’s still unclear what that might mean for Apple’s iPhone 12 launch, but it’s already having an impact on iPhone 11 supply, according to reports.

Of course, Apple’s new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro lineup will be released eventually, be it in September, October, or later. It all depends on how quickly the spread of the virus is slowed, but it’ll happen eventually. When it does, Apple fans will receive the biggest iPhone update in years, with an all-new design and tons of new features. We already know plenty about the iPhone 12 series thanks to a series of reports from the world’s top Apple insider, but a huge leak that hit the web recently revealed two very important upgrades for the iPhone 12 series that we weren’t previously aware of.

Save $20 when you bundle Amazon’s two best-selling devices

%name Save $20 when you bundle Amazon’s two best selling devices by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • While Amazon’s Kindle lineup of eBook readers is the first device line Amazon ever released, two other Amazon devices have long since surpassed the Kindle in popularity: The Fire TV Stick and the Echo Dot.
  • While the Fire TV Stick is Amazon’s best-selling streaming media device overall, the upgraded Fire TV Stick 4K has topped it more recently.
  • Amazon is offering a little-known deal that gives you a big 20% discount when you bundle the Fire TV Stick 4K with an Echo Dot.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

It’s pretty difficult to believe that Amazon got its start as an online bookseller. It seems like a lifetime ago. When we think of Amazon these days, we think of two main things before anything else. First, we know that Amazon is the place to order just about anything you can imagine and have it express-shipped to your door for less than you would pay elsewhere. And second, we know Amazon as the company that makes all sorts of great hardware products that undercut rivals but still offer outstanding user experiences.

Among all of Amazon’s popular hardware device lines, there are two gadgets in particular that outsell everything else right now. Kindles still fly off the shelves and the new Echo Show 5 is also hugely popular (and $20 off right now if you buy a refurb), but the Fire TV Stick 4K and the Echo Dot are Amazon’s top sellers right now by a landslide.

Fire TV Stick 4K bundle with Echo Dot (3rd Gen – Charcoal): $79.98

The entry-level Fire TV Stick is still Amazon’s best-selling streaming media player overall, but the upgraded Fire TV Stick 4K has sold even better in recent years. For just $10 more, you get support for 4K resolution and HDR content. Considering how affordable 4K TVs are these days, the Fire TV Stick 4K is clearly the better choice for most people.

On the Alexa side of things, it obviously goes without saying that the Echo Dot is Amazon’s best-selling Echo speaker. It’s Amazon’s most affordable Echo speaker by a sizeable margin, so it’s easy to buy a bunch of Echo Dots and ensure you can access Alexa and speak voice commands no matter where you are in your home.

The Fire TV Stick 4K costs $50 if you buy it on its own, and the Echo Dot is also $50 as a standalone purchase. Neither individual product is on sale right now on Amazon, but if you bundle them together you get a big 20% discount. That shaves $20 off the total bundle price, getting you both the Fire TV Stick and the Echo Dot for a total of just $79.98.

This streaming service airs free Netflix, Disney+, and HBO content – but with a huge twist

%name This streaming service airs free Netflix, Disney+, and HBO content – but with a huge twist by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Netflix, Disney+, HBO, and Hulu are all streaming services you need to pay for, or you need to at least get a password from a paying customer.
  • A rogue “FM radio” station that’s subscribed to several streaming services is streaming in real-time content from them simultaneously.
  • The app is available on PC and mobile, and you can watch in full-screen all the show, but there’s a huge, huge catch for free access: You’re not in control.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

If you’ve been struggling to keep with some of the original TV shows and movies available only on some streaming service you don’t have a password for, then you should know there’s a brilliant solution for that. A free and probably illegal streaming service is streaming shows around the clock not just from Netflix but from nearly every streaming service out there, including Disney+, Prime Video, HBO, and Hulu. However, there’s a mind-bending catch to it that nobody could have seen coming. It’s all random.

Pixel 4 has another issue that Google should fix before Pixel 5 launches

%name Pixel 4 has another issue that Google should fix before Pixel 5 launches by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • A new Pixel 4 discovery shows a previously unknown issue with Google’s newest flagship, one that Google should fix before the Pixel 5 launches.
  • It took this long to be discovered because it’s a feature that not many Android users take advantage of. But the Pixel 4 still fares worse than its competitors, and the problem affects the Pixel 3 series.
  • The issue also highlighted another Pixel 4 hardware problem that Google should upgrade for the Pixel 5, and that’s the phone’s storage.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Google has been making phones for ten years, changing course (and branding) a few years ago from affordable Nexus handsets to premium Pixels. These devices are supposed to be Google’s equivalent for the iPhone, Google’s vessel for demoing the best new Android features each year. Sadly, they’re not even close to the iPhone when it comes to that premium experience, no matter how much inspiration they draw from Apple. I talked before Google’s unofficial Pixel tradition, that it has to fix issues after the phone launches, and now we have one more thing that Google apparently needs to fix. This time around, however, it’s something you’ll hardly notice, and even if you do, it’s something that you can definitely live with until a fix is available.

Yet another iOS 14 leak emerges, this time revealing several HomeKit improvements

%name Yet another iOS 14 leak emerges, this time revealing several HomeKit improvements by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Apple at this point still seems on track to release the first beta of its iOS 14 software update in June, never mind the possibility that WWDC 2020 in all likelihood may be canceled as a result of the continued spread of the novel coronavirus.
  • Accordingly, leaks have started to pile up offering major reveals of new features found by analyzing an early internal build of iOS 14. The 9to5Mac blog has published several reports spotlighting some of what we can expect with this next-generation software from the iPhone maker, and those reports have revealed everything from a new Apple Pencil app to the possibility of adding a blood-oxygen monitor to the Apple Watch, a new Fitness app, tons of new Messages features like possibly retractable messages, and more.
  • In this post, we’ll take a look at several HomeKit improvements reportedly coming with iOS 14 this fall.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Whether or not Apple ends up being forced to cancel WWDC 2020 because of the continued spread of the coronavirus, the release of the first iOS 14 beta this summer still appears to be on track in advance of a wide release in the fall. The fate of Apple’s annual developer conference notwithstanding, the anticipation surrounding this next update of Apple’s mobile software comes during what’s already shaping up to be a massive year for the iPhone maker, with new products on the way including an affordably-priced iPhone 9, new iPad Pro models, a new Apple TV, and much more.

The release of next-generation mobile software is as equally noteworthy as all of the hardware products Apple has teed up for release in the coming months, and you can check out our earlier report here that details some key new features revealed in the latest iOS 14 leaks. Meantime, still more new features have been disclosed about Apple’s smart home framework HomeKit, based on an early look at the new OS thanks to reporting from 9to5Mac.

Brilliant Chrome extension lets you share streaming accounts without revealing passwords

%name Brilliant Chrome extension lets you share streaming accounts without revealing passwords by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Millions of people all over the world are currently sharing passwords for video and music streaming services.
  • DoNotPay’s new Chrome extension lets you share access to your account without actually having to tell anyone your private password.
  • DoNotPay CEO Joshua Browder says the extension “does not store the cookies or have access to them.”
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

There’s no escaping streaming in 2020. Whether you want to listen to your favorite songs, watch your favorite shows and movies, or tune in for live television broadcasts, chances are that you’re doing so with a paid subscription service. In general, these services are far less expensive than their traditional counterparts (have you seen how much it costs to have a cable subscription these days?), but there’s a loophole that many of us take advantage of that makes the services even cheaper: Sharing our passwords with friends and family members.

In the future, companies will inevitably start to crack down on this behavior, but for now, it’s surprisingly easy to give someone else access to virtually any of your streaming service accounts. The only problem is that not everyone feels comfortable actually sharing their password, even if it’s the only place where they use it and even if they’re sharing it with someone they trust. That’s where DoNotPay’s brilliant new extension comes in.

Elon Musk think iOS quality needs to improve and says a recent update “broke my email”

%name Elon Musk think iOS quality needs to improve and says a recent update “broke my email” by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • At this point, we’re a matter of months away from getting the first beta of Apple’s next-generation software, iOS 14. By all accounts, it will be perhaps even more feature-packed than usual, bringing a ton of updates and new capabilities to iPhones, the Apple Watch, Apple’s HomeKit platform and much more.
  • The flipside of the coin is that new releases of the iPhone maker’s mobile operating software can also introduce bugs of various kinds — some minor, some so minor you might never even notice them, and others … well, in the words of Elon Musk this week while speaking at a conference, he says a recent iOS update seems to have broken “my email system.”
  • He doesn’t go into detail about which version of the OS caused this problem, but he made the point within a larger answer to a question about technology not necessarily improving over time and that more people should probably be devoted to working on and improving software code.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Elon Musk was answering a question about the importance of software as a differentiating factor in modern technology while on stage at the Satellite 2020 conference this week, when he went off on a brief tangent about Apple — and, specifically, his thoughts on the quality of recent iOS updates from the iPhone maker.

The often-controversial SpaceX founder and CEO, when probed by his interviewer, was elaborating on a point he’d previously made about the trajectory of technological progress not necessarily moving in a smooth line up and to the right. In fact, he stressed that technology “does not automatically improve” before he shifted gears to slam Apple for a recent iOS update that Musk says “broke my email.”

Plastic smells like food to sea turtles, scientists say

  • Plastics in the ocean smell like food to sea turtles, a new study published in Current Biology reveals.
  • Plastic waste catches microorganisms and algae, becoming indistinguishable from food.
  • Sea turtles are often found with plastic waste in their stomachs, and this study reveals why.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Sea turtles gravitate toward waste plastics in the ocean because it smells like food to them. That’s the message from scientists in a new research paper revealing a possible reason why plastic bits are so often found in the stomachs of sea turtles, and why we as humans have a big task ahead of us if we ever hope to curb the impact of our plastic pollution on marine life.

The research, which was published in Current Biology, was conducted using over a dozen juvenile sea turtles who have been raised in captivity. The scientists experimented with plastics that had been soaking in the sea, finding that the scent of such materials produces a reaction in the turtles similar to the scent of foods that the turtles commonly enjoy.

OnePlus 8 will be more expensive than its predecessors, and it’s all thanks to 5G

%name OnePlus 8 will be more expensive than its predecessors, and it’s all thanks to 5G by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • All OnePlus 8 phones will have 5G connectivity, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau revealed ahead of the launch event.
  • The OnePlus 8 Pro and the OnePlus 8 might be more expensive than previous phones, but the latter should still be affordable.
  • It’s unclear whether a Lite version of the OnePlus 8 will also launch soon.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

OnePlus was one of the first smartphone vendors to launch a 5G phone last year — the OnePlus 7 Pro. That phone was OnePlus’s most expensive phone to date, topping $800, but that wasn’t necessarily a surprise. After all, first-gen 5G devices can’t be as affordable as 4G ones, and the OnePlus 7 Pro was cheaper than other early 2019 5G phones. Going forward, however, OnePlus is going to add 5G support to all of its flagship phones, so even the cheapest OnePlus 8 phone might be more expensive than its direct predecessor.
