Researchers say a tiny planet slammed into the Moon a long time ago

%name Researchers say a tiny planet slammed into the Moon a long time ago by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Earth’s Moon only ever shows us one face. It’s locked into its current orientation, with a permanent nearside and farside, but it wasn’t until the Apollo missions that scientists were able to see just how different the two sides really are. The nearside, with its sea of dark gray basins standing in contrast to the brilliant white powder that covers the rest of its face, varies dramatically from the farside, which is marked with countless smaller craters in a more uniform distribution.

The debate over how the Moon’s split personalities developed has raged for decades, but new research seems to indicate that one of the possible explanations does indeed hold water. The theory, that Earth’s Moon was struck by a tiny dwarf planet long ago, is the subject of a new research paper published in Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets.

Apple’s latest MacBook Pro refresh once again addresses keyboard issues

%name Apple’s latest MacBook Pro refresh once again addresses keyboard issues by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Apple doesn’t often admit fault, but the quiet launch of a new MacBook Pro model today, alongside an adjustment to the Keyboard Service Program, seems to be the company’s way of acknowledging that there’s more work to be done to address the butterfly keyboard issues of its laptop line. According to Apple, the keyboard design has been tweaked to reduce double and missed key presses, which users have been complaining about for years.

New materials in the switch mechanism of the keyboard are said to be the solution, and the new design is featured on both the new 15-inch MacBook Pro and 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. But the keyboard design isn’t the only thing that changed, as the laptops are now equipped with 8-core Intel Core i8 and i9 processors.

George R.R. Martin reveals what he’s working on now that ‘Game of Thrones’ is over

%name George R.R. Martin reveals what he’s working on now that ‘Game of Thrones’ is over by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It has been over twenty years since A Game of Thrones — the first novel in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series — was published. As Martin notes in his latest blog post, he never dreamed what a phenomenon the HBO adaptation of his story could be, even though he’d sold books and stories for TV and film in the past. But even though the show has come to an end, the author remains as busy as ever, if not more so.

The biggest question on everyone’s mind after the finale aired on Sunday was an obvious one: Will the books have a different ending than the show? The series finale received more backlash from critics and fans alike than any episode in the show’s history, and many fans are hoping Martin can repair the story in his final two books.

Crazy promo gets Amex cardholders $30 off any $60+ order on Amazon

%name Crazy promo gets Amex cardholders $30 off any $60+ order on Amazon by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Are you an American Express cardholder? Do you shop on Amazon? If you answered yes to both of those questions, there’s a crazy promotion running right now that you absolutely need to know about. Amazon and Amex are teaming up to offer a huge $30 discount on any order of $60 or more, and all it’ll cost you is a single Membership Rewards point. Those Amex points are typically only worth about 1¢ or 2¢ a piece depending on how they’re redeemed, so this deal is a total no-brainer!

The promo couldn’t be easier to take advantage of. All you need is any eligible American Express credit card that is part of the Membership Rewards program, and that card needs to be saved as one of your payment methods on your Amazon account. Then you just head to this page on the Amazon site and hit the “Click to activate” button to activate the promo. Anyone with an eligible Amex card on his or her Amazon account that’s part of the Membership Rewards program will be eligible, otherwise you’ll see a message that says “Thank you for your interest in this offer. Unfortunately you are not eligible.” when you click that link.

After you activate the promo, just add at least $60 worth of eligible products to your cart and select your eligible Amex card as the payment method. You’ll see an option to apply points to your order, and all you have to do is add $0.01 worth of points, which is the equivelant of 1 point. Then you’ll get the $30 discount when you check out! Incredibly, the deal is good on products sold by Amazon and products offered by third-party sellers, which is pretty much unheard-of for a promotion like this.

Head to the Amex promotion page on Amazon to get started, and you can see the terms and conditions for this deal below.

This is an invitation only offer. To receive your promotion credit you must:

  • Click on the button below to activate this promotion credit and apply points to your next order. Note that you will NOT receive the credit unless you click on this button.
  • Add $60 or more of eligible products sold and shipped by Amazon.com to your shopping cart.
  • Your Membership Rewards points will be temporarily set as your payment method at checkout. To redeem this offer, you must pay for at least a portion of your order with Membership Rewards points.
  • Up to $30 of savings will be reflected on the final order checkout page if the items in your order are eligible for the promotion credit.

Apple offered to buy Tesla back in 2013 for more than it’s worth today

%name Apple offered to buy Tesla back in 2013 for more than it’s worth today by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

For years, analysts have maintained that Apple needs to move past the iPhone and look for additional revenue streams. Consequently, many analysts over the years have proposed that Apple would be well advised to make a blockbuster acquisition and snatch up a company like Netflix or Tesla.

Interestingly enough, it turns out that Apple actually did make an effort to acquire Tesla six years ago at a valuation of $240 a share. Incidentally, Tesla’s share price has been reeling lately and is currently hovering in the $200 range. Word of Apple’s efforts to acquire Tesla was brought to light by analyst Craig Irwin of Roth Capital Partners who revealed the interesting tidbit on CNBC (via Electrek) earlier today.

It’s nowhere near close to being as incredible as Avengers: Endgame, but Captain Marvel is still a film that you should watch if you haven’t seen it already. First released in early March, the 21st film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe actually precedes everything that happens in the rest of the movies aside from the first Captain America flick. It’s a fun origin story that provides all the extra context you need before seeing Endgame. Now that Captain Marvel is approaching its official Blu-ray release, the first deleted scene from the film has finally hit YouTube and you can watch it while you wait for the Blu-ray. Mind you, some spoilers follow below if you haven’t already watched the movie.
