Kit Harrington tells ‘Game of Thrones’ haters that they ‘can go f–k themselves’

After eight years, eight seasons, and an endless amount of bloodshed, plotting, and backstabbing, Game of Thrones finally came to an end last night. As was to be expected given some of the fan reactions from the previous few episodes of season 8, the series finale was largely viewed as lackluster at best, and downright lazy, disappointing, and boring at worst. Driving the point home, fan-rankings on IMDB indicate that the final episode — which was called The Iron Throne — quickly became the least-liked episode in show history.

Truth be told, one would be hard-pressed to find an overwhelmingly positive review of the series finale. Personally — and as someone who genuinely enjoyed both season 7 and the bulk of season 8 — there’s no getting around the fact that the series finale felt hurried, jumbled, and even nonsensical at times.

US intelligence chiefs shared classified info with tech execs about doing business with China

%name US intelligence chiefs shared classified info with tech execs about doing business with China by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The trade war with China has reached new heights in the past few weeks, as the Trump administration recently announced that US companies will be banned from buying equipment from certain Chinese companies. Huawei’s name wasn’t explicitly mentioned, but it was obviously implied that China’s biggest tech company is included on the list. Separately, the US government also issued a ban that prevents Huawei from dealing with US tech companies, whether it’s for parts procurement or software licenses. The first effects of that decision are already here, as Google has already said it will comply with the ban, effectively revoking Huawei’s access to the version of Android that everybody wants. Several chipmakers, including Intel and Qualcomm, have also reportedly cut ties with Huawei for the time being.

On top of that, a report reveals that top officials from the US intelligence community have been meeting with tech execs, universities, and trade organizations to brief them about the security perils related to doing business with China.

NASA’s Juno just discovered that Jupiter and Earth have something important in common

NASA’s Juno spacecraft has delivered some of the most stunning glimpses of the gas giant that mankind has ever seen, but it’s also taught scientists a lot about how the planet works. We now know that its storms stretch far deeper into the planet than previously assumed and that Jupiter’s lightning is a lot like the kind we see here on Earth.

Now, data gathered from Juno has shed light on another aspect of Jupiter that seems a lot like Earth. In a new paper published in Nature Astronomy, scientists reveal that Juno’s readings of Jupiter’s magnetic field differ from observations made by past missions. This suggests that the planet’s magnetic field is actually changing in small but important ways, much like the shifts we see in Earth’s own magnetic field.

Bran Stark actor pens essay insisting the ‘Game of Thrones’ ending was perfect

%name Bran Stark actor pens essay insisting the ‘Game of Thrones’ ending was perfect by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Isaac Hempstead Wright, the actor with the sometimes maddeningly impassive face who portrayed Bran Stark on Game of Thrones, got perhaps the best ending out of anyone in the series. He went from being pushed out of a window in season 1, crippling him, to a surprise appointment to the Iron Throne in Sunday night’s series finale.

Naturally, he writes in a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter, he thinks the show’s finale flawlessly stuck the landing — despite how hard it was for actors like him to constantly remind themselves that this was only a TV show, in spite of how crazy things got.

Thousands of Linksys routers leaked detailed device connection records

If you were looking for more proof that all of your connected devices were out to get you, look no further than a new report from Bad Packets chief research officer Troy Mursch, who revealed last week that dozens of Linksys Smart Wi-Fi routers are leaking full records of all the devices that have ever connected to them. Some of the information that is possible to dig up by exploited this flaw includes the MAC address, the name of the device, WAN settings, firewall status, and even whether or not the default password for the router has ever been changed.

With the help of the BinaryEdge cybersecurity team, Bad Packets was able to find 25,617 Linksys routers that were leaking sensitive information to the public internet. As Mursch says, exploiting the flaw doesn’t require authentication “and can be exploited by a remote attacker with little technical knowledge.”
