Last year’s big iOS 12 software update was simultaneously Apple’s best update in years and Apple’s most boring update in years. It seems odd, but it’s true. In terms of exciting new features, there really weren’t any to be found. There were plenty of nice refinements like improved notifications, but there really weren’t any new marquee features to speak of. Siri Shortcuts was likely the most notable new feature, and most iPhone users probably don’t even realize it exists.

Instead, the big news in iOS 12 was the fact that it fixed all the big problems in iOS 11. And there where a whoooooole lot of big problems in iOS 11. iOS 12 squashed bugs, it increased speed, and it prolonged battery life. Best of all, it was compatible with every single iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch model that supported iOS 11. Android updates sometimes don’t even make it to smartphones that are a year or two old, but iOS 12 worked on devices that were released as far back as 2013!

Because there were so many issues that needed to be cleaned up last year, Apple fans were fine with an update that was light on excitement. This year, however, iPhone and iPad users are looking to make up for lost time. We’ve heard rumors of a few big additions to iOS 13, which will be unveiled early next month at WWDC 2019. One graphic designer didn’t want to wait until then though, so he created a video to showcase his vision of iOS 13 on Apple’s next-generation iPhone 11.

Google will pay you up to $500 if you owned a faulty first-gen Pixel

When the original launched in the fall of 2016, some users experienced several audio issues. Google fixed some of them with the help of software updates, but a microphone problem would just not go away. Some users fought microphone problems even after returning the faulty phone for a brand new one. In March of the following year, Google explained that a manufacturing defect was to blame for the malfunctioning microphone. A class action suit was filed in February 2018 and, more than a year later, Google is ready to settle.

Navy pilots who drew a huge dong in the sky faced stiff reprimand

%name Navy pilots who drew a huge dong in the sky faced stiff reprimand by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Navy pilots receive intense training and are held to an incredibly high performance standard. They’re also human, and as such, they find things like giant sky penises amusing, which is why a massive dong dominated the skies above Washington state on a sunny day back in 2017.

The crude sky art immediately drew attention from those on the ground, and images of the unmistakable sight quickly went viral across all manner of social media. At the time, the U.S. Navy said the matter was being dealt with, and official comment on the matter was essentially nonexistent. Now, Navy Times has obtained a copy of the internal investigation that took place, and the details of how the sky dong came to be are well worth exploring.

‘Game of Thrones’ set photographers seemingly forgot Jaime Lannister only has one hand

%name ‘Game of Thrones’ set photographers seemingly forgot Jaime Lannister only has one hand by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

There’s no question about it: The final Game of Thrones season is so bad that we can’t wait for it to end. Episode 4 is already the worst-rated Game of Thrones episode on IMDb, with episode 5 quickly closing in. It’s mostly the writing and the recurrent lapses in logic that destroyed this season, as well as various character arcs.

If that’s not enough, HBO had to deal with that Starbucks coffee cup that made it into the final cut of episode 4, which was easily one of the best things to come out of this season so far. It turns out that’s not the only error HBO made, as it also kind of forgot that Jaime Lannister doesn’t have two hands.

Watch Tesla’s ‘Sentry Mode’ capture two men keying a Model 3 for no reason

%name Watch Tesla’s ‘Sentry Mode’ capture two men keying a Model 3 for no reason by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

This past February, Tesla introduced a new security feature dubbed Sentry Mode. As the name subtly implies, Sentry Mode takes advantage of the array of video cameras on Tesla vehicles in order to capture 360-degree video when an incident like an attempted break-in occurs. Naturally, the cameras aren’t rolling non-stop and only spring into action when a sensor detects something out of the ordinary.

Since the feature started rolling out to users a few months ago, we’ve already seen all sorts of interesting footage, including a string of videos that depict individuals who, for reasons that remain unclear, decide to vandalize parked Tesla vehicles.

Netflix is making its E3 debut to talk about adapting its shows into video games

%name Netflix is making its E3 debut to talk about adapting its shows into video games by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Netflix is about to share some fresh details about its ambition to push deeper into video games, ahead of the planned launch of its Stranger Things game coming in July to PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile platforms.

The streaming giant is getting increasingly creative these days about how it presents content, with examples including its interactive film Bandersnatch that lets users make choices to control how the story progresses. Adaptions of its original series into video games is another area the company sees potential in, and Netflix is planning to make its debut at the annual E3 video game industry trade event next month to talk about exactly that.

Galaxy Note 10 benchmark may hint at a familiar display design

%name Galaxy Note 10 benchmark may hint at a familiar display design by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The Galaxy Note 10 isn’t coming out until early August, but we’ve already seen plenty of leaks detailing its specs and features. We know, for example, that Samsung is making two differently sized Note models this year, and each one of them will have a 5G variant. That’s a first for the Note series, which was sold in a single size in previous years.

The Note also used to be Samsung’s biggest flagship, when it comes to screen size, but that’s no longer the case now that we have all-screen phone designs. The Galaxy S10 5G has a 6.7-inch display, which is 0.3 inches bigger than last year’s Note 9 screen. That said, a new leak reveals more details about the screens of the upcoming Note 10 series.

Roundup cancer trial ends with $2 billion verdict against Monsanto

%name Roundup cancer trial ends with $2 billion verdict against Monsanto by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It hasn’t been a good year for the makers of Roundup weed killer. Back in March, a man was awarded an $80 million verdict after a jury decided that Monsanto’s herbicide contributed to his positive diagnosis for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. That was just the latest in a string of rulings in favor of individuals who believe glyphosate, the active ingredient in the weed killer, gave them cancer, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the massive verdict that was just handed down in California.

The trial, which took place in Oakland, was brought by a couple who believe long-term exposure to Roundup resulted in both of them being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The verdict in favor of the couple carried the astronomical sum of $2.055 billion.
