Samsung today officially acknowledged its intention to delay the launch of its highly-anticipated Galaxy Fold smartphone. The news shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given that a number of early review units handed out to prominent tech publications suffered from broken displays, a turn of events that can appropriately be categorized as an unabashed PR disaster.

The Galaxy Fold is undoubtedly an ambitious device, and while it’s always exciting to see companies take measures to raise the bar for innovation higher, it’s hard to see the Galaxy Fold, at this point, as anything more than a prototype that was poised for release well before it was ready for prime time.

It seems increasingly unlikely that Apple will enter the 5G era in 2019, but the pieces are beginning to fall into place for the company to take advantage of the technology in the near future. In a new research note, the incredibly prolific analyst Ming-Chi Kuo forecasts that Apple’s 2020 iPhone models will be the first to support 5G.

In order for Apple’s 5G ambitions to be realized, it will need to acquire 5G modems. That’s where Qualcomm comes into play. If you have been keeping up with the news in recent weeks, you probably heard about Apple and Qualcomm surprisingly settling their patent dispute. The settlement included a license and chipset supply agreement, which Kuo believes will result in Qualcomm becoming a primary supplier of 5G modems for the iPhone.

SpaceX’s Crew Dragon appears to have self-destructed during engine testing

%name SpaceX’s Crew Dragon appears to have self destructed during engine testing by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

SpaceX has had a really fantastic 2019 thus far, with its crowning achievement being the successful launch, docking, and reentry of its Crew Dragon capsule that is expected to be delivered to NASA for crewed missions sooner rather than later. Everything — well, almost everything — appeared to be going SpaceX’s way this year… until Saturday, that is.

According to NASA and multiple eyewitness reports something went very, very wrong with the Crew Dragon vehicle during an abort engine test at Cape Canaveral over the weekend. The engines, which are designed to push the crew capsule out and away from the rest of the launch vehicle if something goes wrong, suffered an “anomaly,” according to NASA. Images snapped by people close to the facility suggest the vehicle may have been destroyed in the process.

Samsung is delaying its Galaxy Fold launch so people don’t end up with $2,000 paperweights

%name Samsung is delaying its Galaxy Fold launch so people don’t end up with $2,000 paperweights by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Samsung’s foldable smartphone has been making lots of headlines over the past week, and for all the wrong reasons. After several prominent technology blogs revealed that their review units broke within days (and sometimes hours) of use, it quickly became clear that the nearly $2,000 phone isn’t ready for prime time just yet. Now, a new report from The Wall Street Journal suggests Samsung is poised to delay the phone’s launch for at least another month.

The outlet cites unnamed sources within Samsung who claim that the high-profile device failures have forced the company to rethink its launch plans. Most of the reviews have been decidedly lukewarm, especially when considering the phone’s incredibly high price point, and very few reviewers are recommending that anyone even consider taking the leap.

%name Google just cut Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL prices in half, today only by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Google’s Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL weren’t the flashiest phones of 2018, but they’re still two of the best Android flagships devices on the market. Plus, the Pixel is one of the few phones to receive every major Android update the day it rolls out, which means you’ll always have the latest and greatest version of the mobile operating system.

Unfortunately, if your phone budget is relatively tight, the quadruple-digit price of the Pixel 3 XL might have scared you away, but on Monday, April 22nd, in celebration of the fourth anniversary of Google Fi’s launch, Google is slashing the price of both Pixel 3 models in half. The catch? You have to buy the phone on Google Fi.
