We’re just a few days away from the Avengers 4 premiere, Marvel fans, but that doesn’t mean the Disney/Marvel marketing departments have stopped dropping new TV ads for the movie. Just like the previous trailers, the new ones include several spoilers, including confirmation that a significant MCU character has survived the snap and will appear in Avengers: Endgame. The implication here is that other characters whose post-snap fates weren’t addressed might appear in the new Marvel film. Before we get into any of that though, I’ll point out that the only way to avoid the spoilers to come is to stop reading here. You’d better get off YouTube and Instagram as well if you want to have any hope of avoiding the new clips.

After a wait that seemed like it took forever, Marvel and Disney will finally release Avengers: Endgame later this week. It’s easily the most eagerly awaited movie of 2019, and its set to be the top grossing Marvel movie of all time. That’s right, people think it’s even going to beat the $2.05 billion that Infinity War made — and with a cliffhanger like the one at the end of that movie, it’s no wonder people can’t wait to watch Endgame. The movie’s official release date is this Friday, April 26th, though it’s set to debut in theaters in many markets on Thursday evening. Samsung’s hotly anticipated Galaxy Fold smartphone is set to be released this Friday, and when it is it will become the first widely available handset with a foldable display. That’s the good news. The bad news is that so far, we have every indication that the Galaxy Fold is a piece of junk. When companies send review units out to bloggers, it’s troubling to see even one or two devices fail. In the case of the Galaxy Fold, we have now lost count of how many bloggers have said that their review units broke. This is obviously hugely troubling considering the only reason to buy a $2,000 Galaxy Fold is for the folding screen, and the folding screen is what has been breaking.

Beyond the apparent shoddy craftsmanship and horrible build quality, the Galaxy Fold has even more issues. First, there’s a thin plastic film stuck on the screen that looks like one of the cheap screen protectors that come pre-applied on many Android phones. It turns out that this is no screen protector though, and if you peel it off your display will break. That’s right, it’s a $2,000 phone with a display layer that doesn’t extend all the way to the edges and peels right off. As a cherry on top, the design itself is terrible, even if you disregard the fact that Galaxy Fold units are breaking left and right. It’s too thick when folded closed, there’s a gap between the two sides that makes it even thicker, the inner and outer displays have huge, unsightly bezels around them, and there’s a massive notch chomped out of the corner of the main display. Ugh.

The good news, if there’s any to be found in this huge mess, is that Samsung is already working on next-generation foldable devices that will apparently feature much better designs — though at this point, things can’t get much worse.

It’s about that time of year, folks. With WWDC now less than two months away and Apple’s 2019 iPhone unveiling just a few months out, the Apple rumor mill is about to kick into high gear. And despite Apple’s best efforts to “double down” on product secrecy, the previous few years have shown that Apple can’t really do much of anything to prevent substantive rumors regarding upcoming products from leaking out. Samsung’s most daring phone in years is supposed to launch this week in the US, in spite of the “#Foldgate” issues that we’ve just witnessed. A slew of early reviewers experienced several screen issues while using the Galaxy Fold, rendering these devices useless. That’s a major problem for a foldable phone, although Samsung’s official remarks on the matter have minimized it. The company also said that the planned April 26th launch date for North America won’t change — our warning not to buy the Galaxy Fold just yet hasn’t changed either. New reports, however, indicate that Samsung has postponed Galaxy Fold launch events in China this week.
