In this day and age, the ability to work remotely is a necessity for many jobs. Logging on and connecting from an airport, train, hotel room, or wherever you are is vital to everyday business. It’s almost crazy to think that even just 20 years ago, that was much harder since many people had desktop computers and cell phones that could pretty much only make phone calls. These days, a business laptop has become one of the most prominent accessories for many companies. If you’re in the market for a versatile laptop that is built for travel, the HP Elite Dragonfly is an excellent choice.

Recently, I’ve been able to test out the HP Elite Dragonfly and there is a lot to love about a laptop that is so easy to bring with you from place to place. The sleek design is among its top features, as the 13.3″ diagonal display is a Full HD touchscreen. When it’s shut, it’s about as thin as you can find and it only weighs a little over two pounds. You can toss this in any backpack, laptop bag, or you can just tuck it under your arm and bring it with you. It also features HP Sure View, which will scan your face to open your laptop, adding more privacy than most computers.

Even if you’re on the floor in your airport terminal, you’ll be able to get an easy connection with the gigabit-speed Wi-Fi 6. In crazy hectic environments, it still works well. The HP Premium Collaboration Keyboard has buttons with a coating that makes typing for long periods of time much easier on your fingers. It’s also extremely quiet so when you’re using this laptop, the people around you will barely know you’re typing, which has really come in handy with multiple people working from home where I’ve been.

Even the trackpad is silent and smooth, so you won’t have to think twice about cranking out some pages for your screenplay at your local coffee shop. With the trackpad, clicking in the bottom right corner will act like right-clicking with a mouse, so you’ll have an easier time with those controls. There are multiple ways to customize your trackpad, as sliding one, two, or three fingers in various directions can be set for different tasks.

It runs on Windows 10 Pro 64, which is user-friendly even if you’ve been a macOS user for years like I have. It doesn’t take long at all to get acclimated. You’ll love how many different tasks you’ll be able to handle at once thanks to fantastic multitasking features. And with the 8th Generation Intel® Core processor, you’ll be able to have as many apps open as you want while you stream music and even watching videos all at once (which may seem like a headache, but you can do it). It may not be ideal for people running high-end design programs, but for most of us who need a work laptop, it’s excellent.

This laptop is on the more expensive side, as it starts at $1,749. If you are someone who spends a lot of time on his or her laptop either for work or pleasure, then this is an investment that could definitely be reasonable for you. This laptop can pretty much handle any task, so if you’re working, streaming, or even gaming, you’ll be able to do it with ease. Plus the battery life is really impressive, as a full charge can last up to 13 hours.

The visuals are striking thanks to Intel® UHD Graphics 620. Streaming your favorite movies and shows on this laptop is so easy. It’s a 2-in-1 device when you need it to be, so you can also fold the screen nearly 360 degrees and turn it into a tablet within seconds. The system will also ask you if you want to switch to tablet mode when you reach a certain angle, which is extremely helpful. You can even prop it up to stand on its own, making it ideal for business presentations.

The HD touchscreen is always available, whether you’re using this as a laptop or a tablet. It’s extremely responsive to your touch, allowing you to use it many different ways. I found it easy to swipe through different tabs on my browser or move through a slideshow without a hitch. For such a tiny machine, the internal speakers from Bang & Olufsen provide an immersive sound experience. The sound quality is pure, even if you’re hearing it from another room.

I didn’t have many complaints about the machine, but one I did have was the fact that the power port is on the right side. I found this a bit annoying since I am a right-handed user who does enjoy using a mouse when I’m sitting at a desk using the computer, so the power cable kept interfering with my mouse’s movement. There is also only one USB port, which can be a problem if you are on the go and have to plug in some other devices.

The HP Elite Dragonfly truly does encompass the word “elite” when it comes to versatility in a work laptop. You’ll be able to pack it up and bring it with you without any hassle and even after a full day of working, you can stream your favorite shows on it to wind down. The touchscreen capabilities and speaker system make it great to use for business or pleasure. It’s a highly efficient machine that thrives in today’s business landscape.
